Mikyung Kim
Pianist GLORIA KIM has performed across the globe as a collaborative pianist and soloist. Recent appearances include a concert of opera excerpts by alumni of American Lyric Theater’s critically acclaimed Composer Librettist Development Program at National Sawdust in Brooklyn, Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, and the Stanisław Moniuszko International Vocal Competition in Warsaw, Poland. Career highlights include being on the music staff for the Ash Lawn Opera, Glimmerglass Festival, (Savannah Music Festival,) Virginia Opera, and serving as music director for projects with American Lyric Theater,
Heartbeat Opera, The New York International Fringe Festival, and The Muses Creative Artistry Project. Non-operatic highlights include chamber music collaborations with Elspeth Davis (mezzo-soprano) and Martha Cargo (flute), Camerata New York Orchestra, American Trombone and Winter Summer Trombone Workshop.
An advocate for music in higher education, she has also held facult positions at New York University, Montclair State University, and Concordia University in Austin (also as adjunct violin professor). She has taught master classes in collaborative piano at The University of Texas at Austin, University of Missouri-Columbia, and University of Memphis. A native of Austin, TX, Gloria received her degrees in Piano Performance (and Organ Minor) at The University of Texas, and completed her doctoral degree in Collaborative Piano and Coaching at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
